Privacy Policy

The short version

Belle exists to make your life easier, not to exploit your data. We collect what we need to give you a great experience, we protect it seriously, and we never sell it to anyone. Ever.

Who we are

Belle (“we,” “us,” “our”) is a product built to help individuals and households manage the invisible work of daily life. Our website is bellewill.com.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address, display name, and password (hashed, never stored in plain text). If you sign up with Google, we receive your name and email from Google’s OAuth service.

Household information. Details you provide during onboarding about your household structure, responsibilities, and preferences. This is the foundation of how Belle helps you.

Conversations. Messages you exchange with Belle’s AI assistant. These are stored to provide continuity across sessions and to improve your experience over time.

Tasks and patterns. Tasks you create or that Belle suggests, along with patterns Belle detects in your household’s routines.

Usage data. Anonymous analytics about how you use the app (pages visited, features used). We use PostHog for this. No personal data is shared with PostHog.

How we use your data

• To provide and improve the Belle experience
• To generate personalized insights, briefings, and recommendations
• To send you emails you’ve opted into (briefings, updates)
• To process payments (via Stripe, which handles payment data directly)
• To detect and fix bugs and improve performance

AI and your data

Belle uses Anthropic’s Claude AI to power conversations and insights. When you talk to Belle, your message and relevant context (household info, recent tasks, detected patterns) are sent to Anthropic’s API to generate a response.

Per Anthropic’s commercial API terms, your data is not used to train their models. We do not fine-tune any models on your data. Your conversations belong to you.

Who can see your data

Your household. If you’re in a household with a partner, they can see shared tasks, household info, and patterns. They cannot see your private conversations with Belle.

Our team. We may access your data to debug issues or provide support, but only when necessary and with appropriate safeguards.

Service providers. We use Supabase (database and auth), Anthropic (AI), Stripe (payments), and PostHog (anonymous analytics). Each processes only the data necessary for their function.

Nobody else. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own purposes.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Supabase’s infrastructure (AWS), with row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt.

Your rights

• Access. You can export all your data at any time from Settings > Export My Data.
• Deletion. You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us.
• Correction. You can update your information in Settings at any time.
• Portability. Your data export is in JSON format, which is portable and machine-readable.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). We use anonymous analytics cookies via PostHog. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

Children

Belle is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when our practices change and notify you via email for significant changes. The “last updated” date at the top tells you when this was last revised.
